What Is Blockchain?

A blockchain is a shared digital record book that no single person or company controls. Every transaction ever made is written into it permanently and publicly.

Simple Definition
Imagine a Google spreadsheet that thousands of computers around the world all share — and once something is written in it, no one can erase it or lie about it.

The 4 Properties That Make It Powerful

1
Decentralized
No bank, government, or company owns it. Thousands of computers ("nodes") all hold a copy.
2
Transparent
Every transaction is public. Anyone can verify what happened, when, and between which wallets.
3
Immutable
Once data is written, it cannot be changed or deleted. This creates permanent, trustless records.
4
Programmable
Smart contracts let you encode rules that execute automatically — no middlemen needed.
Key Term: Smart Contract
A self-executing agreement written in code. Like a vending machine: you put in money, the rules run automatically, you get the output. No human needed to process it.
Key Term: Wallet
Your digital identity on the blockchain. Like a bank account number — but you control it directly with a private key (your secret password).
Key Term: Gas Fees
A small fee paid to the network computers for processing your transaction — like a tip to the delivery driver. Fees vary based on network congestion.

Why Crypto Markets Move

Crypto prices move because of a tug-of-war between supply and demand, sentiment, and capital flow. Understanding the "why" behind movements is what separates noise from signal.

The 5 Main Price Drivers

1
Bitcoin Cycle
BTC's halving event (every ~4 years) cuts new supply in half. Historically this creates bull market conditions 12-18 months after each halving.
2
Macro Liquidity
When central banks print money or cut rates, more cash flows into risk assets including crypto. When they tighten, money flows out.
3
Narrative Rotation
Capital rotates from sector to sector. DeFi → NFTs → L1s → L2s → AI tokens. Whoever spots the next narrative first wins.
4
On-Chain Activity
Real usage increases demand for a token. Growing wallets, transaction volume, and TVL are bullish signals.
5
Sentiment & Fear/Greed
Markets are emotional. The Fear & Greed Index measures market mood. Extreme fear = buying opportunity. Extreme greed = be careful.
4yr
BTC Halving Cycle
0–100
Fear & Greed Scale
TVL
Total Value Locked
Key Term: TVL
Total Value Locked — the total amount of money deposited into a DeFi protocol or blockchain ecosystem. Higher TVL = more usage = stronger fundamental signal.
Key Term: Halving
Bitcoin's code automatically cuts miner rewards in half every 210,000 blocks (~4 years). Less new BTC created = scarcer supply = historically higher prices.
"Price is what you pay. Value is what the blockchain records. Learn the difference."
Page 06 · Ecosystems

Layer 1 & Layer 2 Ecosystems

Layer 1 (L1) — The Foundation
The base blockchain itself — where all transactions are ultimately settled. Examples: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, Sui, Aptos. These are the operating systems of crypto.
Layer 2 (L2) — The Upgrade
Built on top of a Layer 1 to make transactions faster and cheaper. They settle back to the L1 for security. Examples: Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, zkSync, Polygon (PoS).

Why It Matters for Traders

Capital flows through ecosystems. When Ethereum fees get expensive, users migrate to L2s or competing L1s. Tracking where activity goes tells you where to look next.

Page 07 · On-Chain Intelligence

On-Chain Metrics: Reading the Real Data

On-chain data is the actual activity recorded on the blockchain — not what people say is happening, but what's provably happening. This is your edge over sentiment-driven traders.

MetricWhat It MeasuresBullish SignalBearish SignalWhere to Find It
Active Addresses Number of unique wallets used daily ↑ Growing ↓ Declining Glassnode, IntoTheBlock
Exchange Flows Crypto moving to/from exchanges Outflows (holding) Inflows (selling) CryptoQuant, Glassnode
TVL Total value deposited in DeFi protocols ↑ Rising TVL ↓ Capital leaving DeFiLlama
MVRV Ratio Market value vs. realized value Under 1 = undervalued Over 3.5 = overvalued Glassnode, LookIntoBitcoin
Funding Rate Cost to hold leveraged positions Slightly positive Very high = squeeze risk Coinglass, Bybit
NVT Ratio Network value vs. transaction volume Low NVT = undervalued High NVT = overvalued Woobull, Glassnode
Daily Transactions Volume of activity on-chain ↑ Increasing usage ↓ Network going quiet Etherscan, Solscan, L2Beat
Beginner Tip
Don't try to track all metrics at once. Start with Active Addresses + Exchange Flows + TVL for any chain you're watching. Those three alone tell most of the story.
Page 08 · Narrative Rotation

Narrative Rotation: Where Is the Money Going?

Crypto doesn't move uniformly. Capital rotates between stories — sectors that capture the market's imagination and attention cycle attract investment. When one narrative fades, another rises.

What Is a Narrative?
A market story with momentum. "AI tokens are the future." "Real-World Assets (RWA) are bringing trillions on-chain." When enough people believe and buy into a story, prices move.

How to Spot a Rotating Narrative

1
Track sector performance
Which category is up most this week? Check CoinGecko categories.
2
Watch Twitter/X & Crypto Twitter (CT)
When smart money accounts start posting about a sector heavily, that's signal.
3
Check Google Trends
Rising search interest in a crypto topic often precedes price action by days.
4
Watch TVL flows on DeFiLlama
Which protocols are gaining deposits? That's real money, not just tweets.

Page 09 · Capital Intelligence

Liquidity & Capital Flow

Understanding where money is entering and exiting the crypto market is one of the most powerful skills you can build. Capital flow determines price direction more than almost any other factor.

Macro Flow Framework

$
Stablecoin Supply (USDT / USDC)
Rising stablecoin supply = more "dry powder" waiting to buy crypto. Watch it on Glassnode or CryptoQuant.
Bitcoin Dominance (BTC.D)
When BTC.D falls, money is rotating into altcoins. When it rises, capital is consolidating in BTC — a risk-off signal.
BTC → ETH → Alts Rotation
Capital classically flows from Bitcoin first → then Ethereum → then smaller altcoins. This is the "alt season" rotation.
Exchange Inflows vs Outflows
When large amounts of BTC/ETH move TO exchanges, holders are preparing to sell. Moving OFF exchanges = accumulation signal.
📡
Where to Track Capital Flow
CryptoQuant Glassnode DeFiLlama DeBank Nansen Arkham Intel TradingView
🎯
The Stablecoin Signal
Monitor USDT and USDC total market cap on CoinGecko. A rising stablecoin market cap means fresh dollars entering the ecosystem — a macro bullish signal even before prices move.
Bitcoin Dominance
BTC's share of the total crypto market cap. Above 55%: Bitcoin season. Below 45%: altcoin season. Watch this number on TradingView (BTC.D).
Page 10 · Price Action

Price Action Basics

You don't need to be a technical analyst. You just need to understand a few key concepts that tell you where price is relative to important levels.

Support Level
A price floor where buyers historically step in. If price drops to a support level and holds, that's a potential bounce signal.
Resistance Level
A price ceiling where sellers historically dominate. If price approaches resistance and stalls, expect a potential rejection or consolidation.
Breakout
When price breaks above resistance with strong volume — a powerful bullish signal. The old resistance often becomes the new support.

Key Indicators to Know

IndicatorWhat It Tells You
RSI (Relative Strength Index)Over 70 = overbought, under 30 = oversold
200-day Moving AvgLong-term trend direction (above = bull, below = bear)
VolumeHigh volume confirms price moves; low volume = weak signal
MACDMomentum crossover — shows when trends are turning

The Gemini AI Analysis Workflow

You don't need expensive software to analyze crypto like a professional. Using Gemini (or Claude / ChatGPT) as your analysis assistant, you can run institutional-grade research in 15 minutes by copy-pasting data you already collected.

The 5-Step Manual Workflow

1
Collect your data
Pull the 8–10 key numbers from your daily sources (price, TVL, flows, sentiment, funding rate, etc.).
2
Format it as a data block
Organize the numbers clearly (see example on right). You'll paste this into the AI's prompt.
3
Run the Master Prompt
Paste your master prompt (from Slide 18) followed by your data block into Gemini.
4
Read the AI's output
AI gives you a structured summary: market condition, signal quality, sector recommendation, probability score.
5
Log and decide
Copy the AI summary into your Google Sheets tracker. Make your decision based on the score.

Example Data Block (Paste This)

DATA INPUT FORMAT
DATE: January 15, 2025 ASSET BEING ANALYZED: Solana (SOL) MARKET CONTEXT: - BTC Price: $104,200 (+2.3% 24h) - ETH Price: $3,480 (+1.9% 24h) - BTC Dominance: 51.3% - Fear & Greed Index: 72 (Greed) - Global Crypto Market Cap: $3.6T ON-CHAIN DATA (SOL): - Price: $212.40 (+4.2% 24h) - TVL Change 7d: +$240M (now $6.1B) - Active Addresses 7d avg: 1.2M/day - Exchange Flows: Net outflow (-120K SOL) - DEX Volume 24h: $2.4B NARRATIVE SIGNALS: - Memecoin activity: HIGH - DePIN ecosystem: GROWING - Developer activity: STRONG (100+ new contracts/day)
Why Format Matters
AI models give much better analysis when you provide structured, labeled data rather than asking them to "look up" information. Your formatted data block is the raw material for intelligence.
Page 16 · AI Output Example

Example AI Analysis Output

Here's what a well-structured AI response looks like when you feed it quality data. This is what you're training the model to produce for you.

AI OUTPUT — SOLANA ANALYSIS
MARKET CONDITION: BULLISH (Moderate) Market is in risk-on mode. BTC holding above key levels, macro conditions supportive. SOLANA SIGNAL: STRONG (79/100) Multiple converging signals: ✓ TVL growing — capital is entering the ecosystem ✓ Net exchange outflows — holders are accumulating, not selling ✓ DEX volume at multi-month high — real user activity ✓ Narrative momentum high (memecoins + DePIN) ⚠ Sentiment at 72 (Greed) — not extreme but watch for fade SECTOR ROTATION STATUS: Capital appears to be rotating from BTC → Alts. BTC.D at 51.3% — approaching potential breakout in altcoin favor if it drops below 50%. RECOMMENDED FOCUS AREAS: 1. Solana ecosystem (SOL, Raydium, Jupiter) 2. DePIN tokens (HNT, RNDR, IO) 3. Monitor RWA narrative (building quietly) RISK NOTE: High greed readings historically precede short-term corrections of 15-25%. Consider scaling rather than going all-in. PROBABILITY SCORE: 79/100 — WATCH CLOSELY

What Made This Output Good

Structured data input
We gave the AI labeled numbers, not vague questions. Garbage in = garbage out.
Scoring framework defined
The master prompt told the AI exactly how to score — it didn't have to guess.
Risk awareness included
Good analysis always includes what could go wrong, not just what could go right.
Actionable recommendation
It told us what to do next, not just what the numbers mean.
Pro Tip
Save AI outputs in a dedicated column in your tracker. After 30+ days, you'll be able to back-test: did the AI's predictions actually play out? This builds calibration over time.
Page 17 · Ecosystem Health

Protocol & Ecosystem Health Checks

Beyond price, you want to know if a protocol is actually growing. These are the signals that show real adoption versus hype.

👨‍💻
Developer Activity
Active GitHub commits show teams are building. Use Electric Capital Developer Report or DefiLlama's protocol pages. Rising dev count = long-term health signal.
👥
Daily Active Users (DAU)
Unique wallets interacting with a protocol daily. Find on Dune Analytics or protocol-specific dashboards. Growing DAU = real product-market fit.
🌉
Bridge Volume
Amount of assets moving into an L2 or ecosystem via bridges. Find on L2Beat or Dune. High bridge inflows = capital is moving in.
🔒
Revenue Generated
How much money the protocol earns from fees. Track on Token Terminal. Protocols with real revenue are fundamentally stronger.
🏦
Treasury Health
Does the protocol DAO have enough runway? Check DeepDAO or protocol governance pages. Healthy treasuries survive bear markets.
📣
Social Velocity
Rising social mentions and sentiment on LunarCrush or Santiment often precede price moves by 24–72 hours.
Key Resource: Dune Analytics
dune.com — A free platform where analysts build custom dashboards from raw blockchain data. Search for any protocol name and find community-built dashboards tracking everything from DEX volume to wallet behavior.
Page 18 · Master Prompt

The Master Daily Analysis Prompt

Copy this prompt and save it in a document. Each morning, paste it into Gemini (or Claude/ChatGPT) followed by your data block from your tracker.

MASTER GEMINI / AI PROMPT — SAVE THIS
You are a professional crypto market analyst with expertise in on-chain metrics, narrative rotation, and capital flow analysis. Analyze the following data I have collected today and provide a structured market intelligence report. Using the data below, produce: 1. MARKET CONDITION SUMMARY - Overall market phase (accumulation, markup, distribution, markdown) - Macro risk environment (risk-on / risk-off) - BTC cycle position and implications 2. ASSET ANALYSIS (for each asset provided) - Signal quality assessment (Bullish / Bearish / Neutral + reason) - On-chain health score (1-100 using: activity + flows + TVL weight equally) - Key risk factors to watch 3. NARRATIVE ROTATION SIGNAL - Which narrative is gaining momentum right now? - Which narrative appears to be fading? - Where would you expect capital to flow in the next 7-14 days? 4. PROBABILITY SCORE (out of 100) Score each asset using this weighting: Macro (20) + BTC Trend (15) + On-Chain (20) + Exchange Flows (15) + Narrative (15) + Price Action (10) + Sentiment (5) 5. RECOMMENDED ACTION - What should a risk-aware analyst focus on this week? - What signals would change your thesis? Format your response clearly with headings. Use plain language a beginner can understand. Flag any data inconsistencies or missing information. --- BEGIN DATA --- [PASTE YOUR DAILY DATA BLOCK HERE] --- END DATA ---
Page 19 · Risk Management

Beginner Rules & Risk Management

The market will test your discipline constantly. These rules exist to protect you from your worst impulses — and from the market's design to take money from emotional participants.

🛡️
Rule 1: Never invest more than you can afford to lose 100% of
Crypto can go to zero. If losing this amount would hurt your real life, reduce the position or don't enter.
📊
Rule 2: Research before capital — always
Score any asset at 60+ points before deploying money into it. No score = no trade. This removes FOMO buys.
📉
Rule 3: Set a stop-loss before you enter any position
Decide your maximum loss (e.g., 20%) BEFORE you buy. If price hits that level, you exit. No exceptions, no "waiting for it to come back."
🔄
Rule 4: Diversify across narratives, not just assets
Don't put everything into one narrative. Spread across L1, L2, DeFi, and one emerging sector. Correlation kills portfolios in bear markets.
🧘
Rule 5: Don't trade on emotion — trade on data
If you're excited or scared, don't make a move. The scoring system exists to remove emotion. Use it.
💰
Rule 6: Take profits in stages
When an asset hits +50%, sell 25%. At +100%, sell another 25%. Let the rest run. Locking in gains is not a loss of opportunity — it's wisdom.
📅
Rule 7: Know the cycle phase you're in
Bull market strategy ≠ bear market strategy. In a bear market, cash and stablecoins are positions. Protecting capital is the primary job.
📝
Rule 8: Keep a trading journal
Log why you entered, what the score was, what happened. After 3 months you'll see your actual patterns — both the good and the mistakes.
